The Sax Maniacs' is very popular and has a great Michigan fan base. We deliver a powerhouse show featuring our Detroit sax sound. The Sax Maniacs perform great Soul & Rock in’ Sax music that crowds have been enjoying throughout Michigan for over 20 years.
The Sax Maniacs are a five-piece band out of the Detroit area, performing a mix of Soulful cover tunes and special original material off their latest CD. Their style is a cross between super cool swingin’ sax tunes from the 50’s & 60’s like Peter Gun, Honky Tonk and Night Train to classic rock and Motown hits like Ain’t To Proud To Beg, Shotgun and I Feel Good by James Brown. The band incorporates 4-part harmonies ,cool brass, lots of burnin’ guitar with one of the hottest rhythm sections in the Motor City. The Sax Maniacs have shared the stage with the likes of Blues legend A.C. Reed, Mitch Ryder and Grandy Ballroom hero, Dick Wagner & TheFrost. The band’s up-tempo, sax driven Soul, quoted in the press as , the new sound of today’s Motown, has excited Motor City fans at festivals and concerts since 2001.
With the release of their new CD, The Sax Maniacs are looking to reach a much wider audience via national air play and a highly paced performance schedule. An average draw for the band depends allot on the size of the venue. This band can draw a crowd of 200 plus people for a regular bar night, 500 people for the weekend and anywhere up to 2500 plus at outdoor festivals.

The Sax Maniacs have enjoyed such notable local performances as the Jambalaya Festival, The Arts, Beats and Eats festivals in Pontiac, The Winter Blast Festival in downtown Detroit, The International Blues Festival in Ferndale, The Freedom Festival in Canton, The Ann Arbor Art Fair, The Spark in the Park Festival in Highland, Michigan along with The Greektown Casino, Detroit’s Hard Rock Café, Memphis Smoke in Royal Oak, The Motor City Music Conference Blues Showcase in Detroit, The Emerald Theater: Finals for The Motor City Blues Challenge, The Woodward Dream Cruise in Royal Oak and currently is continuing to compose and present more original songs as they tour throughout the state of
Michigan. The Sax Maniacs also were nominated for 23 Detroit Music Awards, including Best Blues Band, Best Blues Recording, Best Blues Vocalist, Best Blues Instrumentalist, Best Producer, Best Composer and won in the Best Live Performance category. In 2009 Hour Magazine voted The Sax Maniacs in a 3-way tie for Best Detroit Band.
The Sax Maniacs have released 12 CD’s to date. To mention just a few:
“TOTALLY LIVE", “TEQUILA”, “REAL DOWNTOWN DEAL”, “REAL CRAZY COOL”, “THE SAX MANIACS LIVE AT THE 2009 FERNDALE BLUES FEST” and “WILL THE LAST ONE OUT OF DETROIT PLEASE TURN OUT THE LIGHTS”. Their original song from that CD, “Headin’ To New Orleans”, was the title tune for the national CD release, Blues For Katrina, a compilation of music from bands around the country supporting the victims of hurricane Katrina.
