BIo:

Our adventure started  twelve years ago when a friend of ours thought we should perform at the Relay for Life in Plymouth. The three of us, Kelly, Deb and Suzy were new members of the Livonia Civic Chorus when we formed our group.

We thought 60’s dance music would be fun to impersonate. We began thinking of names for our group. Everyone had great ideas but we just couldn’t decide on one. “What about this?” and “What about that?” kept coming into our discussion. Kelly said, “How about the WhatAbouts?”

The name stuck and we have been having fun singing at many car shows like the Dream Cruise, Legends shows, which features many different impersonators and fundraisers.  We enjoy all kinds of music and dancing, but hanging out with each other is the most fun.

Also as seen on PBS specials!

DEB

Having a love for music has been essential to Deb. She grew up with 1960 era being her favorite. Is it any wonder singing classic girl group music would be of interest?

Deb has played music throughout the Detroit area with her group Collage and her husband, Chuck. Deb is currently working on vocal range and learning music from all genres. Also, outfitting The WhatAbouts is intriguing to Deb. You never know what The WhatAbouts will be wearing at their next gig! Another current love to Deb is strength training and a new challenge, cross fit.

From working with Kelly and Suzy at various car shows, parties and summer festivals to opening for the greats such as Eddie Holman, Maurice Williams and The Reflections, being a WhatAbout has been an unbelievably amazing journey for Deb.

As The WhatAbouts celebrate more than ten years together, Deb continues to enjoy learning new songs and dance moves with Suzy and Kelly along with entertaining their audiences of fans old and new. Deb continues to hear, “Every year you girls keep getting better and better.” Deb says, “Thank you,” as The WhatAbouts journey continues.

KELLY

Kelly enjoys all types of music that inspire her in one way or another. Singing, dancing, and choreography have always played an important role in her life. She sings and entertains in several local senior communities.

Kelly is currently working on an R&B/Pop CD and will soon be singing Big Band jazz. She has recorded a small jazz CD and a jingle, as well as a Christian music CD entitled, “With All My Heart”, dedicated in loving memory to her mother.

In her free time Kelly enjoys fishing, camping, crafting with her Creative Friends Network, traveling, photography, and spending time with her new grandson. You can often find her swing dancing with her husband Brian, also known as The WhatAbouts’ sound man.

Kelly enjoys networking and meeting new people and has had the privilege of being the The WhatAbouts booking manager.

She has been so blessed to be able to work and play with Deb and Suzy. They have so many wonderful memories through their journey.

Kelly’s CDs can be found at her website, www.kelicamusic.com or at CD Baby, Amazon, and iTunes

SUZY

Suzy Hoover started singing in elementary school. She was extremely shy as a child and loved the chance to find her voice in the musicals put on by her awesome elementary school teachers. Suzy stayed with singing for a few more years, singing in the chorus through the eighth grade. She did not sing too much in public after that but never lost her love for the art. Suzy finally found her voice again when she joined the Livonia Civic Chorus about 10 years ago. From there she met Kelly and Deb…and voila! The WhatAbouts came to fruition. Suzy has enjoyed all the unique experiences that come her way as an entertainer.

Outside of singing Suzy is a proud mom of two wonderful sons (19 and 21), a full-time elementary school teacher for the last 25 years, a pet mom to a dog and cat, a 4-time half-marathoner, a 4-time sprint-triathlete and a certified minister that has officiated two weddings. She enjoys spending her free time reading, working out, and, of course, singing for fun people with The What Abouts.

TESTIMONIALS

I really enjoyed the What About show. They were every professional and you could tell they were having fun singing and dancing to the oldies. If you haven’t seen them in the past, come and experience a fun evening with three entertaining women!

Pat Pociask

I watched the WhatAbouts perform at the Woodward Dream Cruise in August 2008 and again a few months later and I have to say, I thoroughly enjoy listening to them and seeing them perform. It is a lot of fun and brings back many memories of songs

being played when I was a little younger than I am now.

John Loose

After enjoying their great 60’s singing and light-hearted entertainment, we knew we had to have them at our wedding celebration. They absolutely made the day! Everyone loved them and so will you! They will have you moving and grooving and tapping your feet.
